That actually made me feel a little better. Hopefully you are right. At least it makes the game more accessible.I see what you mean morbid, but the fact that they are putting on the 3DS is actually a great idea IMO (I think that stands for "in my opinion" but I am not sure lol). The reason why is that it will bring in a lot more money since the 3DS/3DS Xl are selling a lot more than the WII U. That may sound like they are just being selfish, but I think that with the extra money, they are gonna make better Nintendo consoles/games (like a Smash Bros. 5!!! oh that would be cool). I would get the WII U version, but it costs more and I won't be able to get Pokemon cause I can't get both consoles. Hopefully next time though, they will stick to the home console more so they can make it a lot better. If they do another portable/home console game again (which they most likely will), lets hope the portable version is advanced enough to at least make it seem like it won't limit the home console version.
Games with a lot of tight execution don't go over very well on handhelds. Look at how quickly dedicated smashers can wear out a GC controller to unplayable levels; do you really want that to happen to a 200 dollar piece of hardware?why buy a wii u for smash when MOST nintendo fans have a 3ds already?
M only gripe is that you think Nintendo is doing poorly. And because of them focusing on the 3DS so much to boot. That is just wrong. Sure the Wii-U isn't doing so hot right now but just wait it will start to pick up in sells. But do you know how much the 3DS gets them money? Q_Q It's actually a good thing that they are focusing on handhelds. MS has no handhelds so thats one thing they have over them? Oh wait Sony has handhelds? Weeeeeeel they aren't so great compared to Nintendo's handhelds. Nintendo has always had a big focus on handhelds, look at all the gamboys and nos the DSes, and it hs never ever hurt them what so ever. They make profit from handhelds plain and simple. The only real things you could call a bad choice of Nintendo is their LP rule they made and lack of first part games on the Wii-U, and they are fixing the latter. Some people argue the Wii-U was a bad step but thats not true. Nintendo lately hasn't cared about the power of the console, the Wii is proof of that, and they have still done great. And also Smash4 isn't on the 3DS because of Nintendo. Its on the 3DS because of Sakurai deciding that was the new thing he could do with Smash, Its actually lucky the Smash4 go onto the Wii-U even. And them putting Smash4 on both systems is a huge move as it equals all kinds of profit as there are allot of people who will get both consoles for both games, and both games will sell insanly well indivusually. Nintendo isn't doing poorly like everyone thinks and has in all honestly only made a couple of bad descions which aren't enough to justify them doing horribly.I am thinking about getting it on Wii U only. At first, I was planning on getting it on both. However, buying two Nintendo consoles during the next gen seems a little counter-intuitive. I am by no means a Nintendo hater, I wouldn't be on this site if I was. I do think that as a company they are making bad decisions. Horrible decisions. So I don't think I could promote something I don't agree with. Buying 2 consoles for one game is beyond stupid. I actually don't like handheld gaming. It is one of the reasons I think Nintendo is doing so poorly. Sure, they sell well to casuals who don't really care about quality. Putting time and money into handheld games while only supporting triple a releases is crazy though. I might change my mind later though. Currently I just think the console serves my needs better. 3DS is unnecessary because I already have a phone. I can play games on the go... for free. I don't want to drop 200 plus dollars for one game. I mean there are some good games on the 3DS. I don't think they are worth money though.
Speaking about money. I already pre-ordered a Ps4 with Battlefield 4 and PS plus. So that is 500 dollars down already. I don't even have a Wii-U yet. I am waiting until the LAST possible moment for it. It just seems like a waste of money to me. If we specifically focus on Smash... why would I want ****ty graphics and clunky controls on one of my favorite games?
I don't even like the fact that they are jointly developing the two games. I feel like the limitations will affect the Wii-U version. Not that we don't already deal with the limitations of the Nintendo console. I can only imagine how great Smash 4 would look on Ps4/Xbox One or PC. It would be staggering.
TL;DR- Wii U version.
Ha, I never play that hard. Money wasted on new controllers that can go to better things. I will play somewhat competitively, but I am always careful with my systems and controllers.Games with a lot of tight execution don't go over very well on handhelds. Don't get me wrong, I think the 3DS version will be fun and I will probably get both, but I don't think you should choose one or the other. If you are only getting the 3DS version, I don't think you will be happy with it if you intended to compete.
It definitely will, and I guaran-freakin-tee you more people own a 3DS than a Wii U. Hell, I've got about a dozen friends that put together and Animal Crossing group on Facebook, but I don't know a single person (nor have I talked to one) that actually owns a Wii U.The 3ds smash...I guarantee it to sell better than wii u.3ds has more 3rd party support and amazing 1st party games. I would rather have a selection rather than just smash, mk8 and zelda.3ds is the way to go
I thought it was the other way around of being released? I could have swore Sakurai said that there was a chance that the 3DS version might get delayed and released after the Wii U version? Can I have the source where that was stated please?Definitely for the Wii U. I do not have a 3DS, even though I probably should since there is a great catalog of games.
I'm hoping that the 3DS version is centered towards casual play (especially looking at the levels besides Battlefield). While the Wii U console version of Smash caters to both casual and competitive play. I believe this will give Nintendo the ability to experiment and do side stuff with the 3DS version, while polishing the game on the Wii U. The 3DS version was announced that it would be released first, so I'm quite interested to see what they are doing.

I know right, even my first post said the Wii U choice would win. Didn't expect that both together would win.Wii U version for sure.
Turns out so far that the option of getting both is actually winning, that's...surprising...
Honestly, I might skip the new Smash. The 3DS and Wii U both suck, so.... :S
