So sadly my CRT has started dying recently and it looks like it's begrudgingly going to be "upgraded" to a new hd one.(whih fills me with dread as a fighting game and SHMUP player with lots of old consoles who detests lag). Being a sheik main input lag will screw up my combo timing immensely so.. are there any reasonably affordable current tvs that have close to no(or very little) lag?

Lying about my country.
As long as you're connecting the console through HDMI, you'll get no noticeable lag in pretty much every freaking modern TV in the market.

I got pretty much the cheapest 1080p monitor I could find and it's basically flawless when playing games in terms of input lag. Just stay away from plasma an you'll be fine.

Just be careful when looking at specs, most TV manufacturers add some useless buzzwords that don't actually mean anything. For one, if they say "Response time: 10ms" it could mean anything from genuine input lag, to the amount of time it takes the pixels to go from completely black to completely white, which is kind of useless.

Most HD TVs nowadays have a game mode which reduces input lag.
You could also get a monitor as they are considered very good gaming wise.

I had slight issues (like 1/4 of a second) until I realised I wasn't using the Game picture mode, now it's perfect. What Game picture modes do, is they bypass all the unnecessary picture processing stuff to prevent input lag. I'd give models/brand, but for geographical reasons, that likely wouldn't help.

Khao is right about avoiding plasmas, one reason (if not the main reason) is that plasma screens are more susceptible to burn-in compared to other types, and with static HUDs..yeah. And that's about all I can say really, as long as it has a game mode you're fine, though you may need converters for older consoles depending on input ports.

Personally I own the Vanguard and It's audio AND video are very, very satisfying. Heck I use it more than my own TV.

Wii U isn't compatible for travel in the bag though because the straps can't secure it because It's so tiny.
