whether peanuts break into food item or not

In Brawl, although I did not play Diddy too extensively, I believe his peanuts sometimes broke into an edible recovery item. I remember it happening more often when he used his Final Smash (but I believe this is only due to the increased number of projectile peanuts). Does this still happen in this iteration of Smash?

His peanuts never broke into a recovery item (although his Final Smash I'm not sure of, that could be entirely different). They don't in this game either.

It did sometimes break, but you'd have to put the Food item on.
