Where's the Hype? South East MI, where 50 unique player entrants is a disappointment

I just want to call out the midwest right now. 5-6 years ago when I was here we had people flying in from Cali, rivalries from MI to OH to even KY. RIVALRIES. That's right, people drove from KY to MI to OH to Chi-town enough that we had RIVALRIES. Where is that now?

Now that I'm back on the midwest scene I have been running tournaments twice a month in MI and getting over 50 unique players across PM and Smash 4 every single time. 40 Smash 4 singles entrants is a DISAPPOINTMENT to me. My current record is 89 unique entrants across 3 tournaments.

South East MI has the numbers you guys. People used to drive hours upon hours to get the numbers I get twice a month. TWICE A MONTH. Where you at MW? Come up to MI and give us a reason to travel. Why am I gonna drive to your tournaments when 2 miles from my front door I get twice the amount of people you get.

People are too nice now-a-days. Let's get hype. Let's get trash talking. Let's get rivalries. Come out here and beat up on MI if you think you can. I doubt it. Prove me wrong.

Everyone else is bad. Doesn't matter if it's Melee, PM, Smash 4... Everyone else has their one player they latch on to, who they point to and say 'look, this guy right here beat your guy!' As if the fact that 12 out of the Top 16 are usually Michigan people at these tournaments(removing nationals and super-regionals, where the Top 16 is pretty much the best players from around the country).
