Unlike the Wii, Wii U game data can't be saved onto an SD card. You need to have a USB hard drive to store your Wii U game data, but even then, it can only be used on the Wii U system that the game data was originally in.

Sorry, but you're going to have to start over fresh.

well

you gotta realize the WiiU is weird compared to playstation and xbox

i figured from the start save data wouldnt be transferable

if your homeboy's got the console, then i'd say just unlock **** at his house, or let him get the game and let him do it himself, it doesn't even really take long, only thing you'd be missing out on is custom parts

Are you serious? That is like, one of the last things a developer would think about when developing Smash. It is such a minor thing.

That's actually what I do...

I even bring my Wii U and gamepad on trips. Whenever I'm near and outlet I can just plug my Wii U in and start playing on the gamepad.

this page on nintendo's site outlines the way to transfer everything including "save data"
http://en-americas-support.nintendo...i-u-to-wii-u-system-transfer-faq-and-overview

The Wii U to Wii U system transfer feature, implemented with the system update released July 21st, 2014, allows you to transfer content from one Wii U to another Wii U. Content from the source console, including any users, Nintendo Network IDs, save data, and digital content, will replace that on the target console.
so if i go over to his place, and bring my console, id be able to get all the data back?

has anyone done this, or know anything about it?

okay heres a better question, if i end up making a main and give him a bunch of custom moves/gear, if i have an amiibo of him, will at least THAT transfer? (if im playing at a friends place and they havent unlocked everything)

I don't know why you expected to be able to transfer save data for Smash 4... the save data for Brawl was system locked, too. It's personal data and records, and if your friend plays the game on his own system, it's such a minor thing to redo (unlocking characters by playing 100 VS. matches) that I don't see why it'd be a problem past the first... week, at most. In any other case, if your friend didn't have his own Wii U, then you'd need to take yours anyway.

Anyway, as for the Amiibo question... the setup you give the Amiibo isn't something you get to play with yourself. So, even though the Amiibo will stay the same no matter in what system you use it, you don't get to use those moves yourself. Only the Amiibo does.

This link is to transfer Wii Us. This is only in case you, for example, buy a new Wii U, and want to keep all your files. You'd transfer everything and your old Wii U would be wiped clean. The new Wii U would then be the same as the old one, and the old one you could sell or give away, or whatever you want.
