Where do you buy your controllers?

Recently I broke two controllers and I am in need to buy two more. Instead of searching amazon aimlessly, is there a specific website you all like to use?

What kind of controllers are you looking for? Depending on the kind, if the internet is too expensive, I suggest seeing if there's any locally owned used game stores. I usually get mine at a local place that sells them for pretty cheap.

If it is the Gamecube controllers, I usually get the white ones that Smashboards sells.

Nowadays you can buy brand new GameCube controllers at any Gamestop for $30. If you don't have a GS close you can order them directly from Nintendo's On-line Store.

N64 controllers with tight sticks, however, have gotten rather pricey because hoarders who call themselves collectors are stockpiling them.

I am aware, but I just like the white controller more.

To be fair, N64 controllers that haven't had their sticks completely mutilated are rare indeed. As someone who was once into video game collecting I can tell you that most of us would rather have all of our items in absolute top quality. If I still collected I would want my N64 to have four controllers with tonight sticks too.

I've got a nice set of N64 controllers which are in near mint condition.

I've taken all of the N64 controllers shown apart and lubricated the sticks with ceramic grease. They'll probably still be in good shape long after I'm dead and buried. :chuckle:

Yoooo that's a sick stack of controllers dude. When did you get all of these? They all look nearly perfect.

does ANYBODY know where i could get a classic gamecube controller (because the new ones are no match) brand new or great quality used? ived checked ebay, amazon and even googled the question a few times but i cant seem to find them anywhere! and on sites such as ebay theres no guarantee that you will get competitive quality!

any help on this topic would be much loved

Merging this with the existing gamecube controller thread. There's two on the first page (but one was asking a specific question on prices). Please check topics first before making a thread in case if it's been already answered. If you didn't get a satisfying answer on an existing thread, you can still use it to ask your question again there.

Hey all,

I'm just getting back into Smash (and trying to get into the competitive scene for the first time) and after digging up my GC, I'm pretty sure my controller is 3rd party. It has no "Nintendo Game Cube" logo above the start button.

Anyway, the Z button is too "clicky" - it doesn't depress smoothly or seamlessly. It's a very definite, audible click each time - like when Blackberry made that smartphone with a clickable screen a few years back.

I hate it.

I see the banner ad on this site linking to the official Nintendo GC controller via amazon -- does that one click like how I am describing? Also, does anyone know of experts/artists/people within the scene who make controllers with art/design on them? I remember seeing something like that a while ago. If you do know of someone who does that, do those controllers have a reputation for performing well/being reliable?

Last question - anywhere particularly good to buy a new n64 controller?

Thanks a bunch - and sorry for the long post.

@ Broccoli_Rob Broccoli_Rob Please do a search or at least look at the first two pages of the Light House to see if there's a thread that's similar to yours. I know you have some separate and valid questions, but there is already a controller thread where you can ask as well.

Edit: To answer your questions, the controller doesn't have a clicky z button like the one you have. I'm not sure on art designs for the GC controller. For N64 controllers, they're hard to get. You'll have to look on ebay if you want an official good one. The problem is finding an analog that's still in good condition.
