Where are the replay files?

Does anyone know? I searched for all threads with "replay" in the title. I found nothing helpful.

I saved a bunch of replays and then put my SD card into my computer. I only see the snapshots I took. I see no files/folders that suggest replay information. Did I not look in the right spot? Are replays saved to Wii U internal memory instead of the SD card? I really wanna archive as many replays as possible. :(

From what I've read, replays are only available to view on the system itself.

To quote a certain post regarding the 3DS version:

"The way the game saves replays is not as a video file, it's a text file of all inputs made by the player as well as all the RNG elements. The game then recreates the match."

This is likely the case for the Wii U version as well.

Yes. I am aware of the file format. I am primarily interested in storing and sharing those files long term. I just want to know where they are originally.

Oh okay. I apologize then.

So, all you're asking is whether they're stored on the SD card or internal memory then?

In that case, the Wii U only uses SD cards for Wii mode, so replays are saved to internal memory.

Incorrect. Smash U requires an SD card in order to save snapshots. Hence I believed the replay files would be there too.

since i don't have an sd card I can't take snap shots but i could save the replays from that information i guess its stored on the internal memory of the wii u

I think this is correct, although a system of viewing replays on a computer would be amazing. I'll give it a little bit before someone figures it out.

This really won't happen. Having to recreate the entire engine would be impractical. I'd certainly support someone who tried, though. :)
