When should I use Up Tilt instead of Shine during a pillar?

Is it just for when shine wouldn't reach or wanting to knock the enemy up a specific distance in the air? I'd like to add it to my play but I don't feel like I understand the reasons to use it.

I've read that it's good vs. lower % floaties as it allows an easier follow-up.

i'm not super sure on this but i feel like utilt reaches farther back than shine does so if u can't reach them u can use it, also if u don't wanna stale ur shine as much i guess lol

Falco's Utilt has great range, his shine however has less range than Fox's.

I happen to think that uptight has less power so I use it

1.) against floaties so they can't escape the pillar combo

2.) when my opponent gets to too high of a percent where a shine would mess up the pillar

3.) when they are too far for the shine to hit, the uptilt has more range
