When does marth's grab whiff a crouching puff?

Hi! I was wondering why marth's grab only whiffs a crouching puff some of the times. Is it because of dash grabbing and or JC grabbing?

Dash grabs will get a crouching puff. Standing/JC grabs can get puff, but it has to be on like a tiny window when puff bobs up and down. So basically just dash grabs.
