What's up with this hitstun cancelling?

Hi guys, long time lurker, first time posting, be gentle.

Now saw this video of Megaman's up B 'rush cancel' ruining Mario's down throw-up tilt combo...

((Tried to post the video link, not allowed to yet because I'm under ten posts >.> search 'Rush cancel' on Youtube, first result by VGBootCamp))

Looks like Rush canceling is a thing, but what I wanted to know is if this is limited to just Megaman's up B or if there are other moves that can hitstun cancel.

I've have the demo myself, but it's hard to confirm if other characters can cancel out of hitstun like Rush because I don't have a second player around to test properly. My concern is that there could be too many moves that cancel like this and I'm just curious as to what makes a move eligible to cancel, as shown in the video, it appears only Rush can do it for some reason.

I mean, it's alright if just Megaman gets to do it, could just be extra flavour for him, but if like, every character has it, that kinda makes the combo game not very fun :V I wouldn't say broken just...not fun. If anyone with the full game or a second player with the demo can experiment a little for me and post their findings, that'd be fantastic <3

Even if it isn't Megaman-specific, unless you can do this with a regular move or jump, you're locking yourself into an extremely predictable falling pattern which can be punished. Escaping the combo doesn't do you much good if you're going to eat a charged smash at the end of it.

Pretty sure Megaman and possibly Sonic are the only ones with this. Megaman isn't a problem but Sonic is really strong now even without it.

And I would completely agree and it's why I don't think it's broken. But combo breaking so easily is still a concern to me. I want to be able to rely on Mario's up tilt combo's and such because it's fun to knock your opponent around silly like that. Also I'm just curious if this is just a megaman thing or naw.

I hope that's the case. Sonic spring cancel would be devastating, he'd still be able to act out of it! x3

It is basically just Mega Man at the moment. I haven't seen anyone capable of doing it with Sonic. I've even requested it a few times on different streams. So might just be an oversight on Mega Man. Not game breaking and the title is a bit misleading. Just saying.

Good to hear. dunno about the title thing, I wanted to know more about this hitstun cancel, seemed appropriate :V

You could request this to someone with a Japanese copy of the game to test.
Like a streamer? I might do that if I can, but I think I'm satisfied with the general public opinion that it's just Megamans thing and not really a problem for now.
