Whats the point of launchers?

Project m has one, riivolution has one, GeckOS has one, and now, somebody created one. can somebody explain to me the point in these things? :(

The point of the launchers are to load the game with codes, or some other form of modification that cannot be achieved if the game were loaded normally. We made the Minima launcher recently in order to launch brawl minus with SDHC support without the need to use the PM launcher. Project m's launcher also is necessary for sdhc support, as well as the other features it offers for their game. The one thing all these launchers have in common is that they allow the gecko codes to be loaded. Which is what basically allows games like PM and Minus to exist.
