whats the point of checking out characters frame datas?
like i check the frame data and see that this move's hitbox starts sooner than the other move, or this move have lesser end lag than the other move.
but how does this help you?
and can it help with creating combos?

Frame data gives you an idea on how long attack animations last, which can mean a lot if you're trying to punish any mistakes that are made.

It gives you an objective idea of what attacks are punishable and what moves can be used to punish them. Though Smash Bros. doesn't have reversals, only shield grabs which still have a 6-frame startup for most characters, longer for a couple more (Greninja, all tether grabs, maybe some others). Attacking out of shield requires a couple frames to deactivate shield if you didn't perfect shield, plus startup frames of the attack you're using out of shield. Unless you jump-cancel an up smash, which is a whole other thing. Someone can probably explain all of the exact data for dropping out of shield and such, I don't remember how long it takes.

you know i always wanted to ask something about the Jump-cancel up smash, does the jump cancels the shield drop or it only cancels if you up smashed after it? because if it does cancel it normally does that mean that i can jump-cancel then use aerials? i know you can Jump-cancel up special which helps with punishish with characters like marth.

You need to compare the startup of your move (plus shield drop if you didn't perfect shield and are using a move that isn't canceling shield) with the recovery frames of their move. Though it's a little difficult now because 1.1.1 increased shield stun, so a lot of frame data regarding shields is being redone.

Jumping cancels shield, and then up smash cancels the jump. Or you can jump and immediately use an aerial. There's no need to jump cancel an up smash to cancel the shield, you only need to jump.

A simple way to think of frame data is like you are building something with Legos without reading the instructions. You could build it on your own but you would have a much better understanding of how to build it with the instructions. Frame data lets you know exactly how your moves function. It tells you how long they are out and how many frames your opponent has to punish that move. Having a knowledge of your frame data helps you know what moves to choose in the correct situations. For example if you know your nair will come out faster than your opponents, and you know they are gonna nair, you could then beat them to it and possibly gain follow ups from it. There are infinite amounts of situations frame data could come into play, but if you know your frame data and understand how it's used, then it will be very benifical to your knowledge of the game and your character, as well as beneficial to your overall play.

so it just helps you to know the frames advantages and such, it doesn't help with creating combos huh?
one more question, is there a way to know the frames of hitstuns that the enemy is taking? like if i down throw, how many frames is he vulnerable for?
oh and what if they could calculate the frames of dashes start ups and such, wouldn't it help with dance trotting?

Yeah there are ways to figure it out. I'm not too sure myself how but there are bound to be people on the character specific forums that could help you out with those sorts of things :p. People are really dedicated to their mains so if there are not already posts about it, if you created a thread for it someone would most likely figure it out :)
