What's the difference between shielding dropping a grenade, then throwing it...

most snake players i'm seeing now pull out grenades, shield drop them, pick them up and throw them.

whats the difference between just holding it and throwing them when your ready?

You have a lot more control over how far it goes and you can toss it any direction. It's also a more productive way of cooking the grenade than just standing there and holding it.

It's also used for more advanced tactics such as grenade stripping. I won't go into detail since there are already topics about it, but in short you have a lot more control over all aspects of your grenades when you shield drop.

Your alot more mobile and less vunerable to attacks from the rear. I personally like snakes standard grenade mode but carrying it like a standard items makes more sence agaisnt speedy charicters.

It makes the grenades much more versatile. You can run and jump much easier as well as throw them up, down, and further horizontally. Plus they 5 damage if you throw them hard, which doesn't sound like that much more but every damage point counts when you're going for the kill.

I like to toss a normal grenade as fast as possible, and then shield drop the next as quick as possible.
First grenade goes off I have a good sense of when the next is and I can aim it to blow right in his face, plus the first explosion acts as a buffer/distraction.
