Melee being re-released on Wii U, with online capability (with the possibility of playing using our current tournament settings and hosting online tournaments) and leaderboards.

im not sure if i'd agree with online play - i've made many friends simply by playing with people at fests. i feel that what sets melee apart from other communities is its forced interaction and how we've had to cooperate to get fests rolling (people bringing tvs, gamecubes, discs, rides, etc.)

I see your point, Vivio, but this isn't possible for everyone. Some people just do not have the means to play with other people. Maybe they live too far away from the local communities, or there's just no interest for melee in their region.

Some of my best friends are people I've met at smash fests, but online wouldn't be a bad thing, I don't think. Even with other fighting games, I've often had the most fun going to a friend's place and playing a bunch of games together with 0 latency. Having melee on the Wii U would definitely get me to buy one, though, and it would guarantee my purchase of smash 4.

Giving a grassroots community an online outlet can be an exciting thing, but depending on how it's received it could be good or bad. The community would have to show a lot of promise (which we have been with the Smash 4 Tourney and other E3 stuff) before Nintendo decides to go for it.

I always dreamed of an Online Melee with a Money Match system, similar with what you can do with online Poker.
