Correct me if I'm completely wrong.

In SSB64, the most important trait was recovery.

In SSBM, it seemed that speed was what determined tiers.

Now I know that these aren't totally solid rules for determining tiers, but it seems to me that they made the most of a difference in their respective games.

So what's it gonna be in SSBB?

_________

Let me clarify:

Top three in SSB: Pika, Kirby, Ness.
One of the best traits of all of these characters is their recovery. No one can deny that.

Top three in SSBM: Fox, Falco, Shiek.
Fast attacks, fast moves, these are the characters that we see people flying all over the place when they play well.

The best characters in most fighting games tend to be really good at almost everything... just speed or just power or just recovery won't cut it. Ex: Pichu, Bowser, Mewtwo.

he means attack and dodge speed, not running speed
are you saying that c. falc didnt have nice attack and dodge speeds?

last time i checked... his shffls were rather quick and his roll dodge/side step dodges were fast as well

The landmaster will be the most important thing in determaining tiers in Brawl.

Seriously, though, I think it all depends on what advanced techs turn out to be the most important. Since we don't know much about them, it's a little early for me to speculate. Non-flinching frames will certainly play a large part, though, methinks.

Definetely, I think knock back will play a HUGE part in the Brawl, even more than before. My logic behind this is that, with flying and triple jumps and whatnot, it seems to me that most of the characters have great vertical recoveries. I don't know if it will be THE determining factor though.

Perhaps the landmaster was retroactively responsible for determining tiers in Melee...
