For Me,I mainly prefer characters that are quick and great at combos, such as Fox and Captain Falcon. However,my main,Jigglypuff,is a slower, yet more powerful character.:foxmelee::falconmelee::jigglypuffmelee:

I enjoy characters that can put a lot of pressure on opponents. Falco can apply pressure even across the stage with lasers.

MARIO!

I guess I like combo heavy characters, Mario, Captain Falcon, Falco, etc. I like Mario in particular because of his offstage options, and how aggravating it is to fight him (CAPE). I also really like playing more unorthodox characters like Bowser, Ness, and Game & Watch.

Strong defensive characters that can control or outright shutdown the opponent's options. If your opponent can't hurt you, you can do whatever you want.

I've always preferred slower, floatier characters. Basically, not fast fallers, only exception being Captain Falcon because you can't not like Falcon, and I occasionally like playing Fox. My "main" main is Jigglypuff, who is floatier and lighter, while my "secondary" main, Bowser, is heavier, but definitely not faster. Bowser is the main exception to me preferring floaties, otherwise all of my better characters are floaties.

Falcon would still be going faster. He'll be dead within the next second, but he's going faster than Marth :)
Fox is the fastest B)

It's difficult for me to play quick characters though. There moments where I feel like Captain Falcon is needed.
The only problem with him and marth is that they have no ranged attacks. Thats why I usually just stick to Fox and and Falco.

Yeah Falcon has the longest DD range too lol

Marth has his sword and disjointed hitbox, so there's that.

Except Falcon is fastest on the ground, has the fourth best aerial movement speed, is the second fastest faller, and as @ AirFair AirFair pointed out, has the best DD in the game.

I see your point, but that's just the Falcon life. He has a blaster on his belt, but if he used a ranged weapon, that would just cramp his style.

EDIT: Credit to @Kadano for the great chart. I think this is my second time using it and it's both easy to comprehend and aesthetically pleasing. Also, I should specify; Falcon is the second fastest faller after frame 22-23-ish.

Marth just doesn't seem to suit my style. Same with Falcon.
I can combo fine with the characters, but Fox and Falco seem more fit for me.

Ah, my bad. I thought Fox was the fastest character on foot.

And I agree with Falcon using a ranged weapon. It wouldn't fit in his moveset, and it's best the way it is.

It's great that you have a character that fit you, like Falcon fits me. I guess this is a good time to tie it back to the original point of the thread; this whole conversation is proof that different types of characters suit different people.

Anyone with swag combos that are fun to execute and witness. I do this with every game I play that has the ability for swag at least.

Though lately I have been having fun sliding all over the stage with Luigi and tech chasing with shin-shoryu

I like playstyles that revolve around shutting my opponent down in order to greatly simplify the game, then I try to win a war of attrition with a safe playstyle.

In Yu-Gi-Oh, I played a Macro Cosmos deck competitively for a very long time. For melee, this correlates to Young Link and Sheik imo.

It depends on my mood and the match-up. I usually try to stick with Ganon if I'm feeling more defensive, Flacon if I feel more aggressive, and Marth if I have to go against Peach.

I like Ness and Marth. I don't know what kind of category they fit into, though.

Characters with Shenanigans. My main men are Doc and Yoshi. Doc for the sheets and dunks, and Yoshi for the Egg Toss and DJC armor.

Marth can get chain grabs easily and that racks up damage pretty fast so i use him and plus with the long grab range you can wave dash jump cancel grab and thats probably the fastest grab to do in melee also the ken combo :)

I play Roy, Fox and Doc, sometimes Mario. I play Roy because I like his up close play style. I play Fox because (like the tier list suggests) he has so many options. I play Doc/Mario because he is great for combos.

I usually aim for one that can adapt to any play style effectively so I don't feel handicapped if my current strategy fails.
