So, I do pretty well in Smash Bros. I think. I got a good For Glory score of 298 losses and 656 wins. I've managed to get some friends who've been in the competitive spotlight. Sometimes during matches they'd explain that I should've done more spacing or some terms that I don't even understand. I'd tell them what spacing means, but they wouldn't be able to give me a complete answer. So here I am. Help a fellow smasher out. Can someone give a thorough explanation of spacing?

Spacing: This means utilizing your moves at the optimal range. In other words, hitting with the out-most part of your attacks hit-box. For example visualize Marth. If he spaces his moves correctly he will be rewarded with a tipper hit on his opponent.
Gotcha. So if we were talking specifically projectiles for a moment here, would spacing also classify as accuracy and timing? Again, when it comes to projectiles.

Similar, but in this case, and in your context, it is referred to as zoning in fighting games. It is usually the right distance where you want your opponent to be in as to limit his/her approach options. If he/she takes one after you used your projectile you can respond correctly and punish.

Spacing is very important. If you don't use spacingitshardtoreadwhatpeoplearewriting.Wouldn'tyouthinkgso? So when you use spacing its simply easier for us as humans to understand!
