I want to play smash on a monitor with a gamecube controller since performing short hops with a 3 frame jump squat are aids with joycons along with joycons being annoying in general. Came here before going to reddit, since I think this place would be more active and have people know what they're talking about more.
So these are the options I'm considering
A: I have a monitor that's VGA, so I was thinking of getting a VGA to hdmi adapter. I'm wondering if there will be any problems with input lag. I don't care if the adapter has a place to put a headphone jack, because I'm just going to put my headphones in the switch itself.

This is probably my current monitor, (looks 100% the same, I just found the image from google searching up dell monitor 2012 cause that's when I got it as a gift) so if there's going to be input lag I'd count this out, but this is by far the cheapest with the adapters being around 5-10$ so it would be worth a shot.
B: Find a used monitor. I would need to know what I'm looking for. Luckily this legend of a man, Thinkaman made this post to help:

,but if we're talking about a monitor just for smash and being able to bring to locals (to avoid the venue fee) I would rather get used than new.
C: This is to knock out 2 birds with 1 stone. I've always wanted to get a 144hz monitor for fps, but again input lag.

Favorite option is A followed by C and then B.
if none of these work I hear there's a way to play with gamecube controllers undocked? If all else fails then I'll probably get a pro controller that looks like a gamecube controller like power A's
