yeah thanks for the help but with wave dashing and dash dancing how do i mix up the approach so the opponent doesn't know what I'm doing also for spacing i know a good practice for the tipper foward air and its the ken combo thanks againEverything is useful, but something like edge cancelling is far more situational. Focus on consistently and intelligently using wavedashes and dashdashes on different lengths. Get good at l-cancelling consistently with different aerials, from different heights, and against opponents moreso than on empty space (hitstun changes the timing). Learn the timing and spacing for when you can attack and where you will be out of doing this techniques.
A Marth who moves well can threaten well while leaving himself vulnerable or in harm's way much less often.
Even more important than these things are good fundamentals. Learn how to respond your opponent and keep them under your control/off stage. You can get quite far without fancy tech so long as you know how to work with the tools you're already good at.
For the video part i watch alot of m2k marth ROM 1 to be exact but also you need to also know the right choice like instead of an up air when they're above you, you can use a foward air fast fall and maybe grab also marth has a very good wave dash so i always keep note of that thanks and stuffz but also since im use to pivoting in smash 64 (this goes with the movement part) what does pivoting look like with marth thanks againThat is a tricky question to answer, because it depends on so many things. The more comfortable you are with Marth's movement and what he can do, the more you can confidently move in and your opponent's range. Your approach should be more about making them mess up than actually swinging at them, and then you can punish. Learn about his dash and wavedash lengths and timings so you can use them without fear of messing up.
You may have to study various videos of good Marths and observe the kinds of things they do that tricky or hard for their opponents to get around. But all of your mix ups come from understanding your individual opponent, and you will get better and adjusting to their play style with experience and practice.
oh so basically its the same things as pivoting in smash 64 but also using the c stick once you flick the control stick in the other way oh i see now because the way fox and marth move is very different and it kind of threw me off the first time i saw marth's pivoting thanks for the helpI would advise watching M2K's more recent videos in addition to those of ROM 1, especially since you can even learn how he might do things differently or more efficiently nowadays. But when it comes to specifics things like those to do a Fair to regrab instead of a Uair in the chaingrab, I would focus on getting the more basic fundamentals and tech skill down before expanding into those specific followups. Of you course you can learn whatever you want :D, but you will get more mileage out of good fundamental first.
Pivoting is extrememly good with Marth but also tends to be difficult to do with consistency, and it's use is very limited by many good Marth players. But this video from Arc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuCCmymFpMU and PPU's recent video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_aqH9sJnbU are good place to learn about how pivoting techniques and uses in Melee.
Short reply. By actually performing them. Otherwise, figure out your methods for doing JC grabs and work with those methods until you use one you like. I tried doing control stick and grab, but ended up doing weird motion to make it work with Y+Z.What's the best way to practice JC grabs?
