What is going on with my connection

2 days ago i stopped being able to consistently find people in any online mode. the only players i get connected to are japanese, and there is so much lag that i can hardly get an attack started. ive done all the usual crap with trying to fix it, resetting the router, deleting and reconnecting to my wifi through the wiiu, restarting, unplugging and making sure there are no other connections wireless or otherwise sapping the bandwith. the internet browser and anything else that uses this connection works.i eventually gave up and hoped it would fix itself in time, but it hasn't.

whats the deal, did everyone just quit and go play splatoon? anyone else having this problem?
