What if this game disappoints?

Before you think I"m flaming or anything, I have enjoyed both iterations of SSB that have come out thus far. However, what if this game is flawed deeply in some way? Would that affect your buying decision say if all the major game critics gave it like a 7.5 or something to that effect; from what I've read on these boards it seems like this game is like 9+ quality (which I hope for).

I may end up buying a Wii if this game lives up to the hype, but if it doesn't, how will you guys feel?

Doesn't look like it's going to be flawed. Looks like it's going to do everything that Melee did, but do more of it and do it better.

If it dissapoints in any way, well, that's expected. We've had this discussion before. No matter how good a game is, there will always be something that'll dissapoint someone. Period.

Hopefully it lives up to everything it claims to be. I remember being excited as hell for Mass Effect, but in the end (I suspect b/c of EA) they released it early and it didn't have some of the features I thought they would include.

Considering it's one of those big nintendo games (think Legend of zelda or super maro galaxy) this will be getting alot of attention. I REALLY don't think it will be flawed.

Well twilight princess was hyped to be like the best game ever made, and it came nowhere near the hype. Twilight princess didn't really feel like zelda the wolf part felt like a chore more than a fun gameplay addon and it just didn't come close to alttp or oot it didn't really feel like zelda. The same thing could happen for this, all this hype and it could be a completly different game from melee which might dissapoint people.

There are several 'hints' of the game living up to it's hype:

- Has more features and replay value than the most hyped game out there: Halo 3

- Bolstering popular third party playable characters

- Retains the quality much easier for Smash veterans, the small change in gameplay is of course, unnoticeable as you just picked up a Smash Ball.

I am just worried that Sakurai is going to leave off good characters (In fact I know he probably will) which bothers me more then delays.

I only have one thing to say... this game won't dissappoint. It's graphics are amazing (for the WII), the gameplay looks awesome, it has new items, characters, modes, and even online. In my opinion, this game will be the best game of the decade. Maybe even more.

ok, one, i don't give a tiny rats *** what critics think, i have wanted brawl for about a year now, probably longer and i WILL buy it, and two, the only way brawl could ever, EVER be a let down, is from over-hype, apart from that, sure there will be a few people who wanted different characters, but with all the new stages/modes/characters, there is no way it could be a great let-down in my opinion

I've thought about this, and have pretty much concluded that I have no standard for this game. Basically, whatever this game is, will decide what I like. It won't be a matter of whether it goes above and beyond, but in what way it goes above and beyond.

to be honest from all the info that they have given to us in the past year and all the video play that we have seen i seem like it won't. even if it is just that it seems like it will be pretty good i think that we will be fine or ok to say the very least

It can't dissapoint, it already has everything Melee had and more, and its not even out yet.
Well I would be disapointed if they took out Mewtwo and didnt add Ridley... but thats not gona stop me lol, Id DEFINATELY get a wii for this game soley based on the information I know now from the DOJO.
