What if instead of characters this time we unlock A.T. in the story mode?

This thought came to me:
Can you play the classic mode without assist trophies?
Yes!
Would it be funnier with assist trophies?
Yes!
Does people like to unlock things in the story mode?
Yes!
Does people think it's a cheap way to unlock characters?
Yes!
So, why not make the A.T. to be freed in the story mode?
This would also make up for the plot.

It would also be neat if there was a bit of summon mechanic, like in Adventure Mode, you can select one Assist Trophy to help you through the level, and can be summoned at the cost of a meter. The meter charges over time, and it will drain while the A.T. is on the field, and will auto charge after fully draining, but will stop charging before it's full, and fighting enemies will refill it.
