What if I switch characters?

I noticed when reading some rules for tournaments, that some things may depend on which character you play. Price for example. Tournaments have cheaper admission when you play as a lower tier character. I have forever played as Zelda and Sheik both. I begin matches with Zelda, and typically when I have lost half my stock, I switch to Sheik. Yes, I know you can begin a match as Sheik- don't inform me. My question is, how would the rules treat this? Zelda and Sheik are currently quite far apart on the tiers, though Zelda is barely not in the lower tier. I also notice when watching some tournament match footage, that Sheik players will occasionally switch to Zelda to return to the stage with her when Sheik cannot. What do the rules say about this? "You may only transform to return to the stage and must transform back as soon as possible."?

You can change from Sheik to Zelda whenever you want. There has never been a rule to prevent you from switching. Zelda's "gimmick" was that she was able to switch between the two chracters. It's not like people who play Ice Climbers ave to kill Nana before the match starts.

Just because you play a low teir character doesn't mean you pay less for tournaments. There are low-tier tournaments, but these are usually for fun and taken less seriously than normal tournaments. The only character specific rules are the rules against Jiggly/Peach stalling and Ice Climber/Mewtwo Freeze glitch. What tournament rules have you been reading?

The one and only tournament I've watched up till now (Yes, I am a freaking n00b to this whole SSMB online stuff), Went from Sheik To Zelda in order to return, but once back in the stage, most players ignored her (O_O) as she turned to Sheik. Then the brawl was back on. ;D

1. Each crew must write down the characters each player will be using during the entire crew section of the tournament. Players MAY NOT switch characters.

you're looking at this right? what they meant was that since it is a crew battle, if you are fighting someone and finish them off, then you cannot switch your character to fight the next opponent with your remaining stock. So basically if you pick (sheik / zelda) its considered one character, you must stay as that until all of your personal stocks run out.

Last crew tournament I went to, the person who ran it said that he's not going to make a rule against someone switching between Zelda and Sheik because that's just dumb... What he means by not switching characters is that you can't go in as Sheik, and decide to switch to a completely other character, like Fox, in the next round.

I agree with Rapid as I really doubt they would make a rule like that against transforming
...Besides if someone is able to use Zelda and Sheik effectively and win more power to them.
