What exactly is a "social tournament?"

I see this term used all the time on here, and I was wondering what exactly goes on at these.

Basically, how is it any more social than other tournaments?

Never heard of Social Tournament, I think you mean Socal, which means South California.

   I see, thought everyone was referring to the tournament they were talking about, not the region.
