What does FLUDD mean for Dr Mario?

Well, now the inclusion of FLUDD beign confirmed as Mario's new down-B move, one might wonder what this means for his former Melee clone, Dr Mario.

We all know that it's very likely that not all SSBM characters will be making the cut.

And well, Dr Mario weilding FLUDD... that would be kinda really odd, wouldn't it?

What do you think this means? Does the inclusion of FLUDD make it likely that Dr Mario won't be making the cut? Or will he make the cut, but with new moves of his own as well?

Discuss, share thoughts, flame, whatever...

I never thought Doc would be making the cut in the first place. This pretty much confirms it, in my mind.

Ah well. Hopefully they'll give Mario some of Doc's good assets.

Mario having a new down B doesn't have anything to do with Dr. Mario returning or not. If anything, it just proves that they can make Mario and Dr. Mario different from one another.

Dr. Mario is gone. He was the cloniest of all Clones; added nothing to SSBM. The only reason why people played as him/like him in Melee was because he was slightly better than Mario.

This doesn't change his likelihood at all. I'm think that him, along with Pichu are probably the first two characters that wouldn't make the cut.

Dr. Mario is gone. Definately. It was pointless to put him in Melee when so many other characters were available.

hmm what if he creates a virus that walks the stage like a goomba, that'd be pretty funny if 4 Docs decide to spam it!

Doctor Mario probably won't be making it into Brawl, but he is so much better compared to Mario. His moves are better, especially the PILLS, zomg I hate facing Doc with Marth.

Three possibilities (in order of probability):

1. Dr. Mario won't be in Brawl.
2. Dr. Mario will make it in without the FLUDD.
3. Dr. Mario will make it in with the FLUDD.

Well... you're one of the people who thinks he's coming back? Hm.

But if a miracle happened and Sakurai felt happy-go-lucky or crazy enough to put 'im back in the game, then maybe... Dr. Mario would send viruses as his Down B move, and each of them have different effects. Like, One virus has a flame effect, one has freeze, and you get the point.

Am I the only one that just sees him has an alt costume?
Maybe you are. Because some differences between the two is the Forward B move. Dr. Mario's is lighter, and Mario's is better for recovery. Also, their forward Smash is different, because if the enemy is too close to Mario's Smash, the move will only flinch him or something. Dr. Mario's smash is powerful and works anyway.

Doc was already pretty much killed off when Sakurai said that not all characters from Melee where returning. If it wasn't for time restrictions, Doc wouldn't even be in Melee. <_<; Then why should he return in Brawl?

Dr. Mario really doesn't have anything to provide to Smash Bros other than being the better Mario in Melee. That issue could easily be fixed in Brawl by giving Mario some of Doc's attributes since they are tweaking the characters already.

They can always just i don't know... remove the differences between him and mario

I liked Doc better than Mario, but, sadly, I think him (along with Pichu) wont be making the Brawl cut. :(

But the FLUDD doesn't affect his chances, it just show that Sakurai can make 2 completely different characters easily.

Hopefully, it means that he isn't returning. Because I loathe him and his space waster.

...Maybe doctor Mario stabs you violently to death with used needles as his down+b...

Edit: On a more serious note, he could actually jab you with a needle that has a similar effect to Mewtew's Down+B.

Maybe Doc doesn't take a whole new character position, but is like...an option for when you choose Mario. Like, you can change Mario's costume normally, but you could also be Doc, or Raccoon Mario or something. Like each character has 2-3 character variations or something. Like Pikachu/Pichu. And Roy/Marth.

It wouldn't matter to most players now would it?

If Doc makes it in or not, to those who don't like him, don't play as Doc?
It's just that easy. Though, I didn't think about the FLUDD and Doc. It's possible he may have a new move, may not return, or use a FLUDD type attack relating to Doc.

Who knows, and would it really hurt if he came back or not?

Doc's one of my favorite characters in Melee, but i'm not expecting him to make the cut. Leaving Doc out makes more room for another unique character, and unless it's Daisy, i think it's a fair trade.

the FLUDD definitely has impact on Luigi, though. i think the Poltergust is now extremely likely.

I think that this proves that Luigi will not be returning. It wouldn't make sense for Luigi to have Fludd and I don't know what they would give him instead. Besides, Luigi was really similar to Mario in the first SSB. He also wasn't very good and not many people used him. I know that they Luigified him in Melee, but if he returned in Brawl it would just remind people of how bad he was in SSB64 and no one would pick him. I think it's pretty safe to say that Luigi will get axed.

As for Dr. Mario, I kind of think his down B will be the vacuum from Luigi's Mansion.

Luigi getting axed?! The green mean machine getting axed?!!
And you don't know what they would give instead of FLUDD? Never played Luigi's Mansion? Never heard of the Poltergust 3000?
He already has a different Side+B. And a logical choice for a Down+B would be the Poltergust. It could work like a grab attack (Bowser's Side+B is a grab after all). He'd suck the character towards him with the Poltergust and then launches them off. He might even use the elemental spirits instead (fire, water, ice).
You see, possibilities are endless and already some of his A attacks were also different from Mario in Melee. And just... no Mario without Luigi ya know. It wouldn't make sense to have sidekicks like Diddy Kong (as much as I love the chimp) in the game and not have Luigi.

Now to get back to my own topic (just had to get this off my chest).
I think it's indeed safe to assume that the doc won't be returning... In fact, my guess is that all clones will get axed except for Ganondorf, that Ganondorf will return with a different moveset, and that Lucas and Ike will be Ness' and Marth's replacements.

I do however like the virus and the needle ideas for doc's Down+B move. And if he were to return (unlikely, IMO) it'd be awesome to see him do that.

Thanks for all your input you guys!
