I've always considered ducking once to be akin to bowing, especially after a good hit or at the end of the match.

But what do others think it means?

If other people SD and it's not because of something I did. Like if I pressure your recovery and you miss, that's on you. If you chase me offstage and accidentally die, still on you. If I pressure your shield and you fall off stage because of it, and then in the panic you use a Dair and kill yourself though? That's when I bow. It's like saying "oops well that sucks/Sorry that happened."

Also sometimes I teabag ******* eyylmao

To me is just one of the many gestures people do online for no real reason. My guess is people do certain things to be in the zone while they wait for the opponent to return. Ive seen people swirl pit back and forth while charging an arrow or the most common one, fox continously running.

Theres plenty of stupid gestures that literally mean nothing and yet people can interpret them however they want. That's why I love it.

Ducking once to me is like a bow of respect. Ducking constantly is like teabagging

Usually when I get a kill with Sonic I'll just do his "SANIC SPEED" taunt and then run to the other side of the stage. I think its funny but I had someone disconnect after I did that so I guess they took it the wrong way lol

The other day I was fighting 3 other players online, and somehow the match devolved into all of us doing nothing but ducking repeatedly. Good times.

when i duck it means, "that sucks bro, sorry for the lag/game Fing you in the A"
if i do it really faster over and over it means "come at me bro"

I think all Dedede mains can agree ducking is our best taunt.

I dunno, depending on the character it can just be to make a funny noise I guess. And agreed on Dedede's, far better than any of his taunts, especially considering the annoying cap on taunting online.

I only see people ducking at the start of a match, and to me that's like a "Sup!", and then we start playing.

I mostly use it as a way to show sympathy whenever my opponent accidentally SDs.

I use it in place of dash-dancing as a way to kill time between kills. It has no meaning to me other than "I don't have anything better to be doing, like charging a projectile, or repositioning."

Usually, when my opponent ducks, it is at the beginning, before either of us have made an approach. Perhaps they're killing time?

With Rosalina I like bowing since her crouch actually looks like she's taking a bow:

...then I start crouch walking and things just look kinda awkward.

Zelda's crouch is awesome. You can wait while someone is trying to space by endlessly jumping and doing aerials alone. You can also sulk in a corner after a mistake.

Ducking is also a way to test the lag at the beginning of a battle.

Sometimes I duck just for the heck of it, it's just something to do while waiting for your opponent to come back that can look anywhere from ridiculous to relaxed as **** depending on the character.

Yet a lot of people take it as if I'm trying to put my balls on their mouth for whatever reason.

Sometimes ducking means nothing more than ducking.

So true. Dedede's crouch has a "chill" vibe, and a "draw me like one of your french girls" pose. It's a casual demonstration of a fun personality with just the right amount of disrespect.

When using Jigglypuff or Kirby, I do it because of the derpy noises. Ganondorf looks like he is tea-bagging when crouching and so I duck with him just for the fun of it, too. This goes for every character with a wobbly and/or goofy crouching animation.

However, I also duck repeatedly as a way to say "come on!/get on with it!" when my opponent is just standing there, doing nothing.

Sonic can pretend to be scared with it. :p

Even better in Brawl to make Wolf say "What's the matter, scared?" XD

For me it's always kind of varied with the character's crouch animation. When I use Ness sometimes I do bow with a single crouch. Other times I crouch repeatedly to headbang, which I do either to be playful with someone or to celebrate a kill, often both. Same with Bowser Jr, I'll repeatedly crouch to celebrate, play around, or even taunt (that crouch animation, that sound effect, it's MADE for that). Of course with Bj I'll also crouch and hold it to playfully look sneaky or intimidated, same with Pikachu and characters like that (and Pikachu has the added bonus of being able to back dat [butt] up on opponents, coupled with the Dtaunt which I've always told my friends looks like Pikachu in heat... Well... Fun times). Just goofing off and stuff. There's really no universal crouch meaning for me other than signalling that you're not taking the match too seriously.
