What do you use to record gameplay?

Basically what the title says if anyone can recommend some way for me to record, specifics please. I was originally planning to use a Hauppauge...but when I plugged it in, nothing. So, what do you guys use? Also, my computer is basically right next to my Smash setup, just pointing this out. This might become a regular recording setup for events I host during the week.
