What do to about grabs?

I have trouble dealing with grabs. Even when I know the opponent is going to grab, I end up getting grabbed or I can't punish it. If I spotdodge, I end up getting punished for it. If I wavedash back to dodge it then I have trouble punishing the missed grab. What am I doing wrong?

I kept getting bodied by a Marth as my Ganon and I'm not really sure what I should be doing. Should I be jumping and punishing with an aerial? I'm not sure.

Advice?

What you really want to do in the matchup against Marth, especially as Ganon, is to space yourself away from Marth's range of ANY attack possible. Key ranges to know against Marth, his Fair, his max range from run SHFFLed Fair, his Nair, his max range from run SHFFLed Nair, and his grab along with running JC and non JCed grabs. Stay out of these ranges at ALL TIMES when in the neutral game, once Marth makes a mistake, like missing a grab, then go in and punish him hard for it. A lot of Marth's attacks can out range Ganon's, which is why it's important to stay out and punish for bad moves made by your opponent. This applies to every character, know spacing, know what to avoid, know what they have, and know when to punish.

Marth has a really good grab. Don't be too upset about getting grabbed by a Marth. It's disjointed and fast

Basically just space yourself. You can punish whiffed grabs pretty well with ganon, using grabs of your own, or like, down b or something

Another big thing is don't be afraid to be a bit aggressive from time to time. As a marth main gannons often catch me off guard with a well timed aerial.
