What did Sakurai mean about implementing Assist Trophies into All-Star Mode?

To me, assist trophies were the most ingenious ideas in Brawl. The idea that a character can still make it into Smash Bros as an assist if they don't have enough originality for a full playable moveset is really cool. Assists in Smash Bros act very differently to assists in other fighters, as they all have different moves and effects on other fighters. But I don't quite understand what Sakurai meant when he said that they 'figure into All-Star Mode'.

Soooo, do you collect more once you complete All-Star mode? Do you actually have to fight the assist trophies? Who knows?

We already have what appears to be three different character summon moves. The assist trophies, the pokeballs, and the Special Flag, which appears to summon classic 8-bit Namco characters (sweet). Could they figure into All-Star mode as well?

I'll take my idea from back when I made a thread about this! Maybe the ATs have their own unique miniboss or mingame, each with their own unique elements. Starfy's could have underwater elements like in his games. Ashley's could be on a scrolling stage and involve collecting Spell Power (From her Game & Wario game), and get enough to use a Powerful Spell, which will then knock her down from her broom/Red, giving you a chance to attack her. Color TV Game-15 could have you play Pong Light Tennis with one of the paddles, hitting the ball by attacking it (Since you move up and down like a paddle, you only use aerials). Isabelle could send you out on a large town map to collect enough Bells to finish the Community Project. And so on...

What would your reaction be if Atari teamed up with Nintendo and put Pong as an assist trophy alongside Color TV-Game 15?
