What decides host when playing Custom Online?

Is it whoever creates the room? Can host be stolen if this is the case? I just played in ADAPTchance's tourny today and even though I created the match with a connection of: We still had a seriously laggy game. I ended up losing the set 0-2 because moves were not coming out as they would have had the game been smooth (since you need to input them in the brief moment the lag is gone)

If anyone knows how it works on SmashWiiU, I'd LOVE to know. Perhaps it can be avoided next time instead of me legitimately wasting my time only to get matched with someone who doesn't have as good a connection.

Nice connection. Mine is similar to yours but yours is still better. Night Hawk gaming router?

Not too sure who hosts though. I would assume the room creator or the game is run on dedicated servers and chooses one that isn't good for one player.

Nah, Linksys E2000, nothing fancy just yet. Need a better computer before I do that.

Saw you added to your original post. I hope that it doesn't go dedicated, cause I have seen before via streams that sometimes one person will join whose next on the list that just lags to hell. It sucks, and the game needs to have a better host style.

Yeah It could just be random like how Host was selected on Xbox 360 games back in the day.

Well that sucks if that's the case...considering we played 2 games and both games showed dial up lag.

It's random. I play a lot of 1v1 against my friends online. I have the better connection, but even after I start the room, it will switch the host back and forth (without either of us leaving). I have noticed this since the game came out.
