What controller-type will you use and why?

I was honestly planning on using the classic controller because I've always used a button to jump with. But my friend told me that you should always use dpad-up to jump so that your thumb is never off of the attack button...so now I'm considering just sticking with the wiimote and buying 2 more instead of 4 classic controllers. Opinions?

I really want to try the Wiimote by itself, but I'm more than likely going with the Nunchuck combo. Gotta try new things my friend, and saddly, waggle smash will help me control and go easily in between my Normal and Smash attacks

your friend is totally wrong buy a gamecube

there is a lot of people (including me) that is bothered by the "tap" jump in some battles, thats why nintendo put the option to quit it

I'll be using a gamecube controller. On the other hand, I think that on lazy weekend days when I'm too tired to reach the CG, I'll be using the Wii remote those days. We'll see.

Ideally, my ultimate controller would be a 360 controller with PS2 D-Pad and Xbox 1 joysticks... but I'm not that good at soldering.

Wiimote + nunchuk, no doubt in my mind. I find it just so much more comfortable and enjoyable of a control setup I can't imagine using any of the others, and with the buttons being customizable I can make sure everything is as I like in that regard. Hell, I'd use it with Melee if I had the option.

I'm going to try all of the options (well, unless I decide not to buy a classic controller) and see what I like best. It's really nice to have the safety net of the GameCube controller in case I need it -- I have 4 of them, so it's an obvious choice in case I have friends over.

I'm probably going to use the classic because of more sensitive analog sticks, plenty of buttons, plus that d-pad you were talking about. With customizeable control schemes 3/4 controllers will be great. Wii-mote and Nunchuk are great too w/ shake Smash and rumble though.

Am I the only one who has all possible control schemes for friends coming over? I mean just for Brawl I've bought some controllers. I have 4 wii-remotes & nunchuks, 2 classic controllers, 4 gamecube controllers (w/ 3 extension cables so they reach the couch) so everyone can have their preferred control scheme. It's crazy how many ways there are to play.

Final Word: Wii-remote and Nunchuk or Classic Controller because they were made for the system.

Classic will be my first trial.

For the longest, I've wanted to play Smash with a D-pad, because I just love the feel of a D-pad for 2D games, as opposed to an analog stick. Now, I finally get my chance.

But my GC controller will be there just in case...
