I use the Classic Controller Pro for 2 reasons

1.) I got used to it for using it for around 4 years

2.) I have that stupid black wii that doesn't accept Gamecube Controllers

I think I would find it really difficult to use a non-Gamecube controller to play Smash. It's all been fully ingrained and burned into my muscle memory since 2001.

I use a Gamecube controller like everyone a black one that is, but since the analog stick is really worn out a has no grip to it at all so I'm getting a new White one.

I used to use a wiimote/nunchuck, and I believed it was far superior, and that does have merit due to the fact that all of your fingers are on a different button so you do not have to move around much like you do on a gamecube controller. However I have switched over to a gamecube controller and I much prefer it after the initial weeks of getting acclimated to it. Gamecube controller opens up a lot of doors like easier wavedashing, C-STICK!!, dacus, and other things of that sort.

I've been using an indigo GC controller for about 7 years now, but I'm gonna buy a white one soon. I used to prefer my black controller but IDK wtf happened to it.

Why doesn't anyone like Classic Controller Pros ;c I loved the super nintendo controller and the Classic Controller Pro just seemed to fit right in my hands. I do wonder if the input is slower than a Gamecube Controller because it's wireless.

I hope to be able to get one of these sometime, I love how it's actually manufactured by Nintendo too, instead of a cheap knockoff.

Well that controller kinda is still a Gamecube controller . . .
It feels like a heavy GCC. Your hands are also further away from one another.
Its not as bad as it looks.
Tho, I wouldnt dare enter a tournament match with this controller, unless it was streamed.

Classic Controller, because the SD card slot on my Wii is jammed, so I'm forced to play on Wii U.

I like using the Classic Controller Pro, too. To be honest, the GameCube controller is one of my least favorite controllers of all time. The GameCube controller feels clunky and awkward, and the button layouts are really unbalanced. The only thing I like about the GameCube controllers is the smooth L and R buttons, but the controller gives me hand cramps and feels considerably worse than many other controllers that I've used.

I love the Classic Controller Pro because it feels like I'm actually using a traditional controller. Like you said, the layout uses the SNES controller as it's basis, which is always a plus because the SNES controller is one of my favorites. The control sticks have a more smooth grip, the d-pad (while not used for Super Smash Bros. much) is much bigger and better than the GameCube's d-pad, the button layout feels much more accessible than the GameCube's layout, and I like how it's easier to reach between ZL/ZR to L/R (which makes it easier to grab or shield). I even use the Goldeneye 007 Classic Controller Pro, so I get a lot of comments on it and it's a great topic starter. If the Classic Controller Pro was wired, then I would definitely use it in tournaments, but unfortunately I have to use the horrendous GameCube controller instead.

My Wii is the stupid "herp derp no GC controllers" type, so Wii Mote + Nunchuk is all I've been using for the last two years. It's fine, but playing against people of your skill level or higher competitive is a no no. It's just a fact that the GC controller is superior not because it's what we're used to, but because of the button/analog positioning and the C stick.

I think CC Pro has a lot of merit on it's own. In all honesty I would probably derp around with WiiChuck more often ONLY IF I COULD CHANGE THE FREAKING + OR - BUTTON CONTROLS.

I use the new white GC controller and it isn't bad.

To be honest I think that the GameCube controller is the best controller to date. I love it, it feels nice in my hands, and I wish Nintendo would bring the button layout back cause it's one of my favorites. Basically I love the GC controller. Just sayin.

Same with the other 83% of the world. I'm pretty sure we realize that you like the button layout, or else you wouldn't use it.

I used a wiimote for years before switching to a GCC for the first time.

Best decision I ever made.

The Classic Controler Pro's left joystick is in a truly terrible position. The Wii U Pro controller would be amazing if the "c-stick" was in the right place. SYMMETRY ISN'T ALWAYS THE BEST OPTION, NINTENDO OK

How good with this thing be if the sticks had notches and the "c-stick" was in the right place, come on!
