What control style do you use?

I'm really starting to get competitive with Smash and have been reading these forums up and down. I main Ness but haven't found a consensus on best control setup. I want to settle on one before I commit a lot of time to learning to master his play style and control style.

Questions for you guys:

Jumping with control stick - on or off?

C-stick setup?

Set R to jump?
I saw a video of the PK jump/rising PK fire tech, where the author suggested turning R into jump so you can quickly jump and PK fire simultaneously while running. Thoughts?

My current setup - jumping with control stick - ON
c-stick - set to tilts, but only so I can uair without using my second jump
R - shield.

I shield with R and grab with Z, or shield grab

Tap jump off - Because using uair near the ground becomes friggin impossible with it on and low ground uairs are secretly broken. Also, it sucks when you get hit out of PKT and die because you accidentally slipped your DJ in before the thunder.
Z - Jump, so that I can jump (and usmash) out of PSI Magnet cancels and PK Jump. I'd rather have jump on Z than R because it's a more responsive button press.
R - Attack, as a personal preference. I never use the R for shield maneuvers anyways, and sometimes I use R to attack out of a short hop ASAP.
Y - Grab because I need a grab button, and I never use Y to jump anyways.

I leave the C-stick to smashes JUST for perfect pivoting (which I still rarely use). I just think Ness' perfect pivoted smashes are more useful than his tilts.

Default settings is what I use. I may turn off Tap Jump, though, because I control good on the 3DS, but I feel really sloppy with it on on the Wii U.

A - Attack
B - Special
X - Jump
C-stick - Smash (though I only use it for up aerial and down smash, as well as pivot forward smash)

i use defaults with Y to grab.
i turn tap jump on because sometimes I want to do instant rising Uairs from the ground and mostly because I'm fine with having it on.

On the 3DS I switch around attack and special, because I've been used to attack button being to the left of special since 64 and it was awkward using it as default. I also turn tap jump off because 3DS stick isn't the best at detecting sensitivity (I tend to use a smash instead of a tilt and vice-versa at times) and I'd like to use falling uairs (which catches lots of people offguard since it's an unknown good move).

If there is no GC controller adapter where I'm playing on the Wii U then I'll use a pro controller. Pro controller stuff is the same as my 3DS setup, plus I switch it's default shield and grab buttons to make it feel more like a GC controller since GC controller normally has grab closer to me and shield further, pro controller does the opposite. This makes it feel more like a GC controller.

And as for when I can luckily play with a GC controller then I use default, even tap jump on since I can easily control the sensitivity on the GC stick very well (or use the c-stick). Tap jump on also lets me perform jump-canceled usmashes much easier.

My Setup might be weird but...
Normal controls except....
:GCCN:set to tilts
:GCZ:set to jump (j.c anything)
:GCLT:set to grabs
I find this setup to be the best, it makes grabbing much easier and for tap jumpers having an easy to use up tilt is worth it

I use defaults with tap jump off because it often forces me to double jump when I don't want to

Tap Jump off and R set to Jump. This is with a Pro Controller btw - having all those digital shoulder buttons is a godsend since it lets me split jumping and attacking across two fingers instead of having to do everything with my thumb.
