What are these called, and how can I preview my changes

What is the name of these? I've heard them called "CSS cards" once, but google doesn't help me find them by this name. I found where to modify them, but I don't know where to preview my changes other than going in game

They don't have an explicitly given name like "character select portrait" or etcetera.
You preview any changes you make to it in brawlbox / in-game. Pretty much your only options.
