I have been playing Ness and I saw a guy at Xanadu get two pk thunders. The commentator said he teched. Did he mean he hit the shield button close to the ledge to get it. So what else is useful?

Lol, who told you that?

It's not a tech. Just as long as you hit a wall and bounce, you can get another PKT2 immediately.

I have a couple of tech guides that are stickied in Noa's directory thread. Try to check them out.

Also, if you're a regular at Xanadu, I'll be at the upcoming monthly. I could show you a few of the useful ones then if you want.

To tell the truth, a good deal of commentators for Smash 4 still aren't particularly knowledgeable about all the intricacies of the game (custom specials in particular, but far from exclusively). It's something you'd expect to get better with time, but if you're ever confused about how something works, looking up more information online and/or through talking with dedicated mains is probably better.

I bet it was TK or EE lol.

Anyways, the most important Ness specific techs IMO are pivot PK Fires, PKT2 bounce recoveries, PKF lag cancelling, magnet cancelling, and PK Jumping.

Pivot PK Fire is just dashing back, and PKFing forwards to manage spacing.
PKT2 bouncing involves hitting a wall so that you bounce, and PKT2ing again.
PKF Lag Cancel is using a dair after an aerial PKF to cancel the landing lag (see my guide for more details).
Magnet cancelling is a technique to diminish the lag on magnet after absorbing something. Upon absorption, tilt the stick down or sideways to spot dodge or roll, or jump to act out of the magnet. You can also usmash.
PK Jumping is DJ+PKF at the same time, which shoots you forwards, allowing you to move while casting PKF.

Outside of that, the most useful universal techs for Ness are proably usmash out of dash/shield, ledge trumping, and pivot grabbing.
