What are some of the least-played characters?

I see Pichu and Kirby played every now and then by top level players for sandbagging and occasionally other players just for fun, and this got me thinking; are the bottom two characters played more often than a bunch of higher-ranked characters just because they're that bad?

Top and high tiers obviously have their players, but how do the mid and low tiers fare with the others? I don't often see Ness or Mewtwo (although I did see a couple of people BEAT THE LOW TIERS played by M2K and HBox) or DK. The Links I see every now and then, and I see Zelda but not often played solo/for the majority of the match.

I'm just a bit curious is all.

Qerb plays g&w. I think that while he still sucks, g&w is underrated. He has some combos and at least he has an aerial finisher and a great recovery. He's light as a jigglypuff and laggy and his shield sucks tho. But yeah look up Qerb.

it's definitely possible for a low tier character to take a set off of even a top pro, but i think that they'd still have to be played at a level that's beyond what most people are doing right now with lower tier characters.

however, even if they were able to take a set, i think the main thing that would be holding back whoever lost would be unfamiliarity with the matchup (for instance when amsa took a set off of m2k with yoshi). if there were more high level yoshi players, i don't think that kind of upset would have happened, ironically.

Anyway, I don't go to tournaments enough to say for sure. In the future, I'll try to go more frequently though.
