What are going to be the gamepads features for the game?

Since Sakurai was using a Wii U pro controller during the E3 demo, what do you think the gamepad will be used for during gameplay?

I personally hope it will be used in numerous ways.

Score screen so you can see your K.O.s, falls, total damage, etc. during the actual game.

Camera/Recording option where the gamepad player has free range to take pictures, pause, record and send to Miiverse when the match is going on, but not disrupt it. The gamepad has a separate stream of the match where they can rewind, pause to take pictures and then fast forward again to catch up.
This would be great to include the more artistic players who want to capture a perfect shot without having to pause the actual gameplay. And a simple way to record your matches.

God Mode. The gamepad player has complete control over the settings of the game during actual gameplay. They can trigger stage events (like changing the playing field in Pokemon Stadium) and spawn items to reward players.

Another cool idea would be to have 4 vs gamepad player and they have to control a boss character trying to beat them

Nothing as far as player combat controls.
They've confirmed that.

But as a stage builder or a way of keeping track of stats in the match and stuff, I could see it being cool. Especially if we wanted to see our score in a timed match.

God Mode sounds okay, but Stage Builder support is still the best idea.

I don't know. I personally don't want anything too crazy. I honestly cant really think of any practical uses for the game pad. Maybe you use the gamepad to select your character/color/settings. That would be kind of cool I guess.

The biggest use of the gamepad will be being able to play without the TV and just on the pad.

But I can't see Nintendo missing that so I'm not worried. If they miss it I'll be outraged.

I hope they base some casual game modes or unobtrustive features on using the GamePad... Having a 5th/extra player in control of item spawning or a camera would be really fun for me.

Possible uses could be off-TV play for single player modes or multiplayer with multiple Game Pads (but I think you can only connect two of them to the same console, right?), stage builder, perhaps some mini-games to get Trophies or something...

Can't think of anything else.

I think that it should be integrated deeply into the fighting matches!
Imagine all the possible fun and possibilities that are possible because of the new cutting edge technology that allows it to be so, why would anyone want to miss out on that possibility?

TAKE THE SECOND SCREEN TO THE NEXT LEVEL! Give the option in stage builder to make custom block designs by drawing the design on the game pad. The ability to have any color/picture on a block with (hopefully) a larger variety of blocks would be awesome. Personally I wouldn't mind a mode where you could play as master hand on the tablet. Lots of cool stuff, I'll make a list

-Stage Builder add ons
-Control Bosses
-break the targets, board the platforms.... new minigame?
-once the game is paused, give the pad the option to look around the world and take screenshots.
-possibly recording features
-map for adventure mode
-possibly create custom textures for characters, much like block designing
-survival mode (1-4 players are put in a level to battle, the person with the game pad can rotate the world and controls the hazards)

The minds at nintendo are much more creative than I can be in 15 minutes, but there is a lot more that could be done.

When you select your character, they will show on the game pad where you can test your controls before a match by watching them move around. Just to make button checks a billion times easier :p

Also, no offense but why is this thread still alive? I'll post the link if you want but this is an interview snippet.

"Kotaku:Okay. People will be very happy to hear that. I also wanted to ask—obviously with the Wii U we have the GamePad screen, and I wanted to ask you: is there anything cool or unique or interesting you can do with that gamepad for a game likeSuper Smash Bros.?
Sakurai: Actually, I'm not really planning anything that really pushes the GamePad in super-weird directions, just because everyone has their own special preference of what controller they like to use. You would end up in a situation where you have some unbalance in the controls, or in the playing field, so nothing that is super unique and contributes to controls."

EDIT: I suppose this doesn't mean there aren't any uses for the controller, but it suggests he hasn't put a lot of thought into it, so you probably can't do anything that interesting with it.

As long as the gamepad can be used as a controler and I can play on the smaller screen when people want to watch the TV while I iz playing it.That is ofc if I am abe to get a Wii-U before SSB4 comes out, I am hoping that if I play my cards right I will be able to one for christmas. e_e

It's still going to be used, just not in same crazy innovative Master Hand/God Mode way

God Mode would be quite amusing.

Realistically, all we shall receive is scorekeeping during matches.

i was hoping that for the gamepad controllablility, that further down the road, there will be games that support 2 gamepads. i was hoping ssb4 would be one of them. and with that, the 3ds could also function like a surrogate gamepad, therefor leaving no one out of the unique features the gamepad has to offer.
also with this, this would include 6 player game play (hectic i know). teams could be more balanced(since there are 3 colors there can be 3 teams of 2).

but alas it appears this might not be happening (but you never know)
