Sometimes as a hard read I'll use a down-smash while they're getting back up. Sometimes, it'll KO them.

you mean besides flamethrower?
Flamethrower honestly isn't that great. It's ez damage/conditioning against the vast majority of the cast and sets up crazy edge guards in certain MUs but you really can do a he|| of a lot better most of the time, especially at higher percents.

Ledge trumps are really nice in a lot of MUs, barring bad lag. Get a trump and simply do a neutral get up back on to the stage. Take a step if possible and then turn towards the ledge and prepare to hold shield. If they regrab, go for dsmash or fsmash. You will need to start the move earlier for fsmash though. If they try to land with an aerial, shield it and nail them with a good OoS option like Fly or usmash. This hits the vast majority of the cast, if not the entire cast (not sure about super low ledge grabbers like Sheik). You can also go for bair if you think you've caught your opponent by surprise or just want to style but most of your opponents should be mashing second jump if they have any idea how slow Zard's bair is.

You can also do SH nair when their character begins the getup animation to cover a ton of options. This is the easiest thing to do outside of Flamethrower because of how long the hitbox lasts. The tail hitbox will beat getup attack. Fade back with it and the very end of it will catch rolls and potentially combo into ftilt depending on DI and percent. Doesn't do anything to people who double jump back on stage but you can still try to fair them after you miss nair if you have better range. Alternatively, you can just shield where they are going to land and hit them with an OoS option. This typically will not catch people doing ledge jumps though. Fair at the ledge to cover everything but rolls if you time it right.

Choose between a pretty much guaranteed couple of percent at the ledge with Flamethrower or go for something harder but way more rewarding. You do more damage and you keep them on the ledge if you are successful. Flamethrower is a pretty much guaranteed few percent but then your opponent gets to neutral after

I feel that only works on big characters. Other characters get that invincibility frame.

Flamethrower and Fsmash are p good. I believe Up smash and down smash are also solid options if you're debating between jump/get up and get up/roll respectively, but I usually use flamethrower just because you can get people to panic up b without waiting the 50 frames of delay and then just dying to an fsmash. Flamethrower is just the best Zard has, unless you want to do a stylish ledge bomb (run off stage then reverse flare blitz towards stage) or stage spike (run off stage and then bair).

Ledge trumps are incredibly risky because Zard has a bad disadvantaged state, and if the opponent buffers an option then they immediately get the stage control. Aerials other than nair aren't good except for hard reads, and even then smash attacks are better. Rock smash might be pretty good if you know they're going to get up or get up attack because the pebbles will get them as soon as they're vulnerable and super armor.

TL;DR: Flamethrower is safest and probs best bc you keep your advantaged state. Other options are stylish but more committal. Don't put yourself at a disadvantage if you don't need to.
