What about games that never had a portable installment?

Smash 3DS has stages based off portable games but it occored to me that a lot of game serie never had a portable game. The Ocarina of Time 3D stage shows they're willing to bend the rules to include remakes so we could get say an Ice Climber stage but what about Pikmin and Star Fox (Star Fox Command? What's that?)

Mario, Donkey Kong, Wario, Yoshi, Zelda, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Kirby, Starfox, F-Zero, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Earthbound, Game & watch, Sonic, Metal Gear, Mega Man and Animal Crossing have all had at least one handheld game that I can recall.

It's just Wii Fit, Pikmin, Ice Climber (unless we count that virtual console/Ambassador port) and R.O.B. that never had one from all the series that have been confirmed. I think those are only ones who will get a stage from their home console counterpart, I think the 3DS version will be just fine in terms of stage representation.

lets not forget that in every smash at least one character doesnt have a stage from their own series, so the way i see it characters who have not appeared on handhelds will fit this category for smash 3ds

Didn't Star Fox also get a 3DS re-make?

Pretty much the only represented franchises that don't have portable entries are Pikmin, Wii Fit & kinda Ice Climber (which has a VC release on 3DS). They could probably do without stages for those 3.

And even ROB could use a Mario Kart DS setting as his home stage if they really wanted something from a handheld game for it.

This being said, I can also see the opposite happening. Like the World Ends With You has no home console equivalent, so there wouldn't be a stage for Wii U based on that. Same goes for Golden Sun. To make up for characters that have been console exclusive thus far, they might just throw in a more random stage like the ones I listed or something of the like just so portable games are represented.

Mmm, the Ice Climber got a remake for the Game Boy Advance actually:
