Grab your controller and head out to north Seattle for a night of Smash with some of Washington's finest! In addition to the bracket, we'll also have food (pizza and sandwiches), setups for friendlies, a stream (http://afreeca.tv/36864249), along with much, much more! Smashers of all ages and all skill levels are welcome.

We're thrilled to begin our foray into the competitive Smash Bros. scene, and we're starting it out with this event. We are WGA - more formally known as the Washington Gaming Association - and we're beginning our adventure into the Smash Bros. scene with this event. In the future, we plan to run tournaments for many, many different competitive gaming and eSports scenes, such as Hearthstone, League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, etc, and provide University of Washington gamers a platform to get national recognition. We've already secured sponsors such as Red Bull, Stickeritch, and AfreecaTV, and we're only getting bigger and better as time goes on. If this event gets a good turnout, you'll definitely expect more from us, event-wise, in the Smash community, later on.

This event is part of WGA's Spring LAN - an event catered to UW gamers across all games/eSports! Our Smash event (this event) is on Friday - however, our main event, featuring League, Hearthstone, Smash, and more, will be on Saturday! As of currently, the plan for Saturday is to have tournaments for Hearthstone and League, and only friendlies for Smash. Feel free to show up to that and support our organization's launch!

Of course, we couldn't run this tournament without help, so a big shoutout to the Orbitar team for helping us TO and making sure this event runs smoothly! We could also use your help, as well, by bringing a setup! The more setups we have, the more brackets we can run (doubles, perhaps?)

INFO:
SCHEDULE: Registration from 6:00 - 6:30, Singles Bracket from 6:30 - 10:00. (If we can get two more full setups, we can run doubles!)
STREAM: http://afreeca.tv/36864249
COMMENTARY: Open mic!
LOCATION: Maple Hall Great Room - 1135 NE Campus Parkway. Turn right onto Brooklyn Ave, then take the next right to turn into the parking lot.
BRACKET FEE: Free!
REGISTRATION LIMIT: 64 (this can be raised if we get setups)
TOURNAMENT RULES:
- Singles: Double Elimination, best of 3 (best of 5 in Grand Finals), 2 stocks, 6 minutes, items/customs off, Miis allowed with ANY moveset.
- Starting Stages: Battlefield (Miiverse if agreed upon), Final Destination (Omega Palutena's Temple if agreed upon), Lylat Cruise, Smashville, Town and City.
- Counterpicks: Dream Land, Duck Hunt
- Character selection occurs first, followed by starter stage striking (in a 1-2-1 format beginning with the victor of rock-paper-scissors). Match winner may change characters but must do so before loser selects. Match winner may ban one stage before the counterpick is chosen.

It'll be a fun night - you guys won't want to miss it!

NOTE ON SETUPS: We currently have 9 monitors, 6 consoles, and 6 GameCube adapters. If we can get 10 full setups (DLC, GameCube adapter, monitor, console) confirmed the day before the tournament (by May 12th), we'll open up a doubles bracket. If you'd like to bring a setup, leave us a message either by PMing me/leaving a comment in the SETUPS post down below with the equipment you'll be bringing. Bringing a setup will waive your entry fee!

NOTE ON MONITORS: If you're planning to bring a monitor, PLEASE make sure it's a gaming monitor and not a TV! Laggy setups will not be factored into the setup count and will not be used for bracket. To be used for bracket, a monitor must be a gaming monitor (lagless).

Hope to see you all there!
