Western MI Interest

Hi, I'm Seasons Guide.
I just moved out to Big Rapids for college at Ferris State University this fall and I used to host Brawl tournaments back in Alpena with Sparta Kick and Oblivion. I would love the opportunity to start hosting tournaments here at Ferris State in Big Rapids, but I don't know what sort of interest exists on this side of the state.
So what I'm asking of you dear reader is are you interested in competing in tournaments in Big Rapids, MI?
Normally, I host Brawl tournaments but as long as there is interest I could always attempt other tournaments such as Melee or 64 once things get going.
Let me know if you would be up for this idea as well if you have to means to bring setups too. I am but one man after-all with only one setup to call my own.
I plan to use the Ferris State's facilities for hosting any tournaments unless better opportunities arrive.
Advertisement would occur months in advance so that people could prepare for a drive if needed, say from Grand Rapids or Traverse City or maybe even Ann Arbor. I would also advertise locally and try to round up competition from the students on campus.
So if there are questions or if you feel I left anything out please let me know!
Thanks!

West mi has: l cancel, Lordy, legit, and amity all wishing someone would play brawl, the rest of the smash community ran to pm, aside from the melee players but I believe pm is the main game even over melee over there

If you look you can find a west mi thread already where they mostly talk about their next pm smashfest

Ah, my old professor told me about you. Yeah, PM is the main game to play here out West, with a couple of players still sticking to Brawl. Big Rapids has a few casual PM players to my knowledge, but I haven't talked to them in awhile, and they aren't on this site.

I'm pretty sure Jawsome still plays Pikachu from time to time, and if there is still some PM around I could probably play some Brawl to help out a scene.

Thanks for the information thus far.
@Solharath which professor are you referring to?
@lordhelmet Thanks for the link I'll look into it more.

I appreciate the support for the potential Brawl scene. I know next to nothing about Project M, but if its what the people want how could I deny them?

For his sake I'm not gonna say it on the boards, just out of paranoia. PM if you're that interested to know. Speaking of "PM", yeah, you'd best get to knowing about it. You don't have to like it(although it's hard not to), but a healthy respect for it is definitely needed for this area.

I was just interested in whether or not we actually had something in common. :p
Do most people on this forum bring around setups to tournaments if it cuts a venue fee?

Hey I am new to Big Rapids this year and would also like to play smash more. I used to play in the Midland Scene and went to most of their tournaments. Love playing melee and PM. Let me know if anyone is still interested in playing around here.
