so uh... hi!
My name is Zoljinx, I used to be a part of this forum back when Smash for Wii U was still the new hotness. but ended up dropping off the game around the time after Bayonetta was released. not because of her mind you, I didn't really mind playing against her to be honest, I was mostly getting burned out playing the game for so long, and i just felt like branching out to other fighting games as the genre seemed to be getting re-energized at the time with all the new releases.
I can't say I felt bad about leaving Smash behind for the time, I feel like i developed alot more as both a player and a person as i essentially game hopped between fighting games, from Pokken, to Street Fighter V, to Tekken 7, to King of Fighters XIV and Injustice 2. my passion for the scene grew and i chose to attend Evo last year as a result. I participated in KOFXIV, Injustice 2. I wanted to play in a third game though, but Since Pokken got beaten out by mahvel, and since Tekken 7 was so new to me at the time, I chose to round it off with Smash.
Despite not having touched Smash for about a year, it was the game i went furthest in in bracket. I almost made it out of my pool, but sadly choked fighting against a Ganondorf. meanwhile i went 0-2 in KOFXIV and 2-2 in injustice 2. despite the results, i enjoyed my time participating and spectating live with the reveals and top 8's at Evo.
the experience kept me excited for other fighting games, and my attention was drawn to DragonBall Fighterz and Tekken 7. however, i did keep my Evo results in mind for a while, and it occured to me later that Smash is probably one of the games (if not the game) i should focus on. though i never picked the game back up after Evo, and i don't feel like i will be playing Smash Wii U again after thinking about it.
But just as i thought i was out. Sakurai pulled me back in with Smash Ultimate. and ho boy what a game it looks to be! I cannot concisely express how excited I am to jump back into Smash with Ultimate. All of my old favorites from the previous installments are back and look better than ever: Young Link, Wolf, Pokemon Trainer. they even brought in the biggest boi Ridley into the mix, and i could not be more happy. and best of all, it's on the Switch! the console i can take with me wherever, so even when i'm short on time, i can still play the game, even if it's just against bots. I didn't get a switch until this year cause I was still kind of struggling financially, but after Pokken got Blastoise as DLC i had to, and thankfully smash was announced around a similar time, so i already have more releases to look forward to! (only got about 5-8 games at the moment.)
anyways, that's me. nice to hop back into the fandom with Ultimate, and hopefully we can be good friends and have a good time.
