Smash Rookie
Hello! I'm new to the forums, but I've been a Smasher for several years now! :D I'm currently in college working on a degree in Computer Science, particularly video game development.
So my history with Super Smash Bros.: The first time I ever played Smash Bros. was Melee at a friend's house. At the time, the only characters I recognized were the ones from Mario and Pokemon. Because of the daunting number of characters, I asked my friend if I could look in the game manual to see how they play. Despite warning me that not all the characters are in there (as I quickly figured out when trying to find Mewtwo), I found one that appealed to me: a female with the amazing ability to transform. I though "wow, with this character, not only can I play as a girl, but I get twice the moveset as well!" Thus, Zelda became my main across the Smash titles.
However, I did not own a Smash Bros. game until after Brawl came out. After getting Brawl, I quickly picked up Zelda and started learning how to actually use her. Initially, I would switch often between Zelda and Sheik with no practical reason other then I felt like it. Over time, I used transform less and less until I stopped using Sheik altogether. So while I do main and play a solid Zelda, my Sheik game is terrible. XD
Eventually I did get Melee and Smash 64 (on Wii Virtual Console), but I find that I prefer Brawl when it comes to Smash games. (Ha! I'm in the minority on that one! XD)
I preordered Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U along with the GameCube adapter with much excitement as to see how they improved (or possibly ruined) Zelda as well as trying out some of the new characters. Of course I continued to main Zelda, but I also found a second main in Robin with her unique moveset.
Strangely enough, it was because I mained Zelda in Smash Bros. that got me to buy and play The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which became my first and favorite game in my now all-time favorite series, The Legend of Zelda. Along that same train of though, it was the inclusion of Robin and Lucina in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U (and me finally buying a 3DS) that led me to playing Fire Emblem: Awakening, which quickly became my favorite handheld game of all time. XD I am eager to play more Fire Emblem and now super excited for Fates!
...Maybe I said to much. (If only writing school essays were this easy. XD) Anyway, I'm excited to be more involved in the Smash community and to be a proper member of the forums. Happy Smashing!
