Weird Problem When Trying to Start Project M

So, I wanted to see if anyone else here was having a problem/coincidence like this. Yesterday, I bought a 2GB SD Card, and a used copy of Brawl. I've been stomping people at my school in Brawl, but I don't own the game and I know I'm not good and want to get better. Plus, I want to start playing Project M.

So I followed the instructions on the Project M site to get it loaded to the SD Card. I updated my Wii, launched Brawl, deleted the custom stages, put in the SD Card and tried to launch Project M. I updated it, then pressed play. Back to the Wii menu, can't get back into Brawl. The Wii just won't read the disc anymore. So today, I walked 2 hours each way to the local mall to return the game and grab a new one, and the exact same thing happened.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this being an error, or is this just a weird coincidence? It's worth noting that the Wii reads my Melee disc perfectly through all of this, and neither Brawl disc has any scratches. They both however have a weird ring that looks like grease about halfway into the disc. I tried to take a pic but it won't show up on camera, maybe I'm just crazy.

There's probably a problem with your Wii. The only problems I have with loading Project M is when it just gets stuck on the Stage Builder screen for an indefinite time.

It's possible that the lens in your wii is dirty, and can't read Brawl. Due to the massive size of the game (7+ GB), the Brawl disc is dual-layered. If the Wii's optical lens is dirty, it won't be able to read both layers of the disc.
