Weird glitch

I was on the character select, I selected Dr. Mario and everything so far was normal. I selected Final Destination. After the short match a challenger approaching screen appeared. There was no silhouette so I pressed start like normal. The screen wasn't changing, I realized that the game froze. I reset my 3DS(had to hard reset it ) After I started the game back up I went back to Smash mode. When the character select there was a white space next to Shulk.

I don't think it means anything because I tried selecting it and it just acted like it wasn't there. I swear this actually happened though. After I reset again it was gone.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Considering this was noticed before it'd probably involve some voodoo stuff Dr Mario has done and is now haunting the Villager to go on some killing rampage.

If there was such thing as a cheesepasta I'd totally try to write up something of that tone.

I got the capture card off EBay. There are some really good 3DS capture cards. Yes this is real though. It doesn't mean anything just a graphical glitch.
