Today i was playing crazy orders and had a fight against metal lucario... the usual quick swinger shenanigans to farm customs

the weird part was, i Fsmashed him with the bat, he had a shield on, shield instantly broke, he goes up and on his way down back to the floor to being stunned, just before landing, he footstool jumped on my team (cpu jigglypuff) and got rid of the broken shield stun

somebody please test this, i dont have anybody right now to help me out... thats what my eyes saw happening, maybe something else happened and i wasnt 100% aware, but this might be a thing

I play a lot of Crazy Orders, so I suspect the following happened:

You or one of your teammates may have walked the metal Lucario too close to the edge of a platform during the broken shield animation. Whenever this happens, your opponent immediately wakes up, canceling the stunned effect. For this very reason, I'm always cautious about moving too far after I break an opponent's shield with the bat, especially giants.

This is really strange, but David's explanation makes a lot of sense.

Then again, if he was launched into the air immediately, would this have a chance to happen?
