As it stands now:


Have Fun. Don`t be a Jerk.

Anything not explicitly covered here that you feel there needs to be a ruling on should be asked of the TO.

For any disputes over rule interpretations or any subject: contact the TO for resolution.

Most important rule:
Have fun, play with skill and honor.

8 Player Minimum

Starts at 11:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. The bracket and seeding are not final until the tournament starts, as players join and are seeded.

Be on the tournament chat a little before 11.

Post results of the matches in ALL CAPS and spam them a few times.

Any stage, any characters are legal.

Winner`s side is Best of 5.

Loser`s side is Best of 3.

Loser`s Finals and Semi-Finals are best of 5.

5 Stocks, unless both players agree to 7 Stocks.

Grand Finals: Best of Five, 7 Stock; or Best of Seven, 5 Stock.


Selection Order:

Losing player picks character.

Winning player picks character.

Losing player picks stage.

For the first match, the lower seeded player acts as the 'Defeated Player' and the higher seeded player acts as the 'Winning Player'.

Ruleset I like to use: No items, 5 stock, DL only, Bo3 until GF Bo5.

I also used challonge and anthers ladder and it seemed to go by smoother than using just ssb64.com. Both sites don't auto-log you out. Also, anther's ladder chat lets you see previous messages even when you have to reload the page and challonge lets players enter in the results of games so the tournament can run faster.

I can fix the chat to show past messages and allow for players to enter results. As far as the auto logout, I might just cough up the $50 a month.

Auto logout wouldn't be nearly as annoying if the other 2 issued were solved. Solving those issues would also make it so that participants only have to be on one site with one login which is a nice feature.

Accidental double post due to huge loading time. My b.

Yep, that`s our goal: a one window shop.
Tough though, because you have to do everything and as soon as someone makes something shinier.......

I don`t understand why there isn`t more support for SuperSmashBros64.com, the idea of it.
Anther is some guy with a site. Shears and I are dedicated solely to SSB64. It is obvious which is going to better serve our needs in a permanent and ongoing way.

Anther's ladder is well put together. It has a nice layout and being able to double blind pick with challenges in friendlies and ranked matches is very suitable for competitive play.

It doesn't matter who has more intentions. At the moment, anther's ladder has a better functioning chat system and the best ranked/unranked matchmaking service for ssb64.

What is your opinion on the ruleset? I didn't ask if you believed the rules should be allowed.

What do you think of the rules? Would you join a tournament that had all stages/7 stock? Why would you prefer 5 stock DL only?

I prefer 5 stock DL only. I'd join a tourney with all stages/7 stock for fun but I couldn't take it as a serious competitive event.

What does all stages and 7 stock take away from the competitive side of an event?

7 stock doesn't take away from competitiveness, it just extends the length of matches unnecessarily. Stages add variability that can lead to premature stock loss, excessive camping, and a non neutral playing field.

But hey, we have yolo tournaments with items, samus tournaments on zebes, so his tournament can have as many stocks, stages, and items he wants. If it costs him players from the community that's up to him. The tournaments are non binding.
