Coney
Smash Master
Hello Weegee believers.
I play with this reeeeally campy Ike player. He rolls a LOT. Extremely predictable. Basically, all he does is stand at the other end of the level and wait for me to approach. When I do, he shield grabs, runs away, or does AAA.
I try pivot grabbing, but Weegee's traction makes it difficult. I can't shieldgrab myself, because I'm Weegee and his range knocks me far enough away. I try coming down with empty short hops to grab him from behind, and he just rolls away. I try to pressure his shield with spaced bairs and FF nairs, and he just rolls away. I know where he's going to roll and try to ^B and it doesn't hit, then I'm left wide open. I try the same thing with the fsmash and similar results (though that's my fault more than anything).
What I started doing was just doing the cyclone (can't spotdodge or roll through that) and pop him up in the air to get him out of his comfort zone. He hasn't come up with a good response to it, but I hate having to resort to one move repeatedly when I feel there's gotta be a better alternative. I've never lost to the guy, but he's the most annoying person to play against.
So, faithful Weegee mains, how do I combat this?
