After learning SHLs (Short hop lasers) and SHFFLs (Short hop fast fall lasers), im moving to Weaving and SHLing. When I fast fall and try to move to one side, I end up only moving a very small amount. Is it possible to SHFFL while moving to either side, and still get the fast fall in? Any tips for learning how to do it?

To get the most horizontal trajectory out of any character requires the horizontal input before you leave the ground (jumpsquat animation). So you need to be holding left or right at the second to last frame of your jump squat (pretty sure this is 4 frames after you press jump for falco) to get the max horizontal movement. The aerial drift of falco is negligible, especially when shorthopping. Check out this video for more info:

Just so you know, SHFFL is a completely different term, which stands for Short Hop, Fast Fall, L-cancel and is used for aerial attacks (Ex, a SHFFLed Dair). SHL includes the Fast Fall.

Other than that, @ DeadPigeon DeadPigeon seems to have hit the nail in the head.
