3DS version is out in two weeks and we know almost everything about it. But I just now realized that... We know nothing about the WiiU one. Sakurai used the 3DS hype to distract us from the fact that outside the roster and a few stages, WiiU version is a complete mystery to it. Game modes? Almost nothing. Unlockables? A few trophies. Stage editor? For now, it's missing in action (but I bet it's there, exclusive to WiiU).
I personally don't care much for the 3DS version, but it'll help to keep the hype rush down while we wait for the WiiU one.
But the hype never truly ends doesn't it.

Maybe they will give more information about the Wii U one after the 3ds one comes out. I'm guessing that because it's coming out sooner than the Wii U one, they are giving more information about it

The difficulty for unlocking stuff is higher for the Wii U.

Mainly due to the rubbish controls for the 3DS while the Wii U will have better controls.

They need to advertise the 3ds version, since it comes out earlier. The WiiU version will get exclusive, or almost exclusive attention from the developers after septamber 13.

Yep, as soon as it's released for 3DS, you can probably expect an influx of exclusive Wii U footage / PotDs. From a marketing standpoint, it's important that they get the 3DS features out there and advertise it to get the most out of that version before going into the Wii U one.

I think its better that we don't know much about the Wii U version. There isn't a set date yet, only a release window as of now. The Wii U will have its time to shine after the 3DS version releases.

This has been covered in numerous threads. It is smart to focus on and advertise for the closest release, rather than a later version.

It's funny how everyone in here gets the marketing strategy Nintendo is going for. I've actually seen people arguing that the 3DS version has more features and game modes than the WiiU (usually while defending against LOLWIIUSUPERIOR) but that's exactly what Nintendo wants them to think.

Haha, I can't wait for the Wii U version... mainly because I have been holding for the 3DS and I just convinced myself to get one when they went ahead and announced the New 3DS.
There has been some good speculation on Battle Damage in the Wii U version.

When the 3DS one comes out they'll prolly announce the date and start advertising for it.

Kinda surprising you only just noticed it though.

You've got to save the big guns for last. The less we know about the Wii U, the bigger the surprise once we get closer to its release period.

Wii U is gonna get an exclusive mode better than Smash Run.

Smash Walk!
Players who accidentally walk into a Power-Up are eliminated from the match, and must spend the rest of match watching their competitors. If they dare to shut their console off in an attempt to re-start with a new group, Mr. Resetti comes up and deletes your Sm4sh file.

I bet we're getting a Direct shortly after the 3DS version is available worldwide.

Not much point in giving out info on Wii U when they should be advertising the heck out of the version that's right around the corner.

Haha, good one, buddy, Smash plays like a dream on the 3DS. You shouldn't be calling the controls rubbish because they aren't.

Yeah yeah 3DS comes out first. Can we at least get a tease of the presumed adventure mode for Wii U? They teased Smash Run months before it was announced.
Do you guys think we'll still get 3DS POTDs after it releases in Japan? Or will it be full on Wii U from then on?

Fecal matter confirmed for Smash, GET HYPE!!!

Don't worry, the Wii U will get its time to shine once the 3DS version releases. And I'm betting that the Wii U will easily dwarf the 3DS in terms of content by a landslide.

Why are you always emotional?

Its my opinion, i find the controls uncomfortable but I'll learn to adapt.
There wasn't anything emotional about what @ D-idara D-idara said there. He was just saying that it isn't fair to make a harsh judgement about a console's controls before playing it yet, that's all.

That's just stupid. The controls for the 3DS are just as tight. Sure, it isn't a familiar feel but it isn't rubbish either.

where the hell did you get to play the game for 4 hours????
The Irvine Spectrum in Irvine California. It's the final stop for the Nintendo Tour 2014. The game will be there until September the 1st. There really wasn't that many people lining up so I just sat there and played. The Nintendo reps were competitive smashers so they were pretty cool and directed most of the random kids who wanted to play at the other available stations.

It was fun. I didn't want to leave honestly lol. I won a few matches, but they were computer opponents so I just experimented with the physics and tried techs like pivot canceling, edge canceling, wave bouncing etc. Did some combos too. Pit, Sheik, Fox, and to an extent, Greninja can combo fairly well.

I am completely ok with not getting that much info on the wii u yet.

The 3ds version will be my version of choice and I'm certainly excited for it. The wii u version will certainly have unique modes that I am going to look forward too. <3

The 3DS controls are OK. Not that great.

I spent 4 hours playing the game yesterday, so I think that's grounds for a solid assessment.

Maybe the Wii U will be better.
Fair enough. The game seemed to control very well when I played it, but the control scheme was a little foreign.

I was capable of comboing with Greninja on the 3DS version, but I wasn't sure if it was due to the the Smash Run power ups or not. Were you playing normal matches?

It doesn't really matter since, assuming you're not in Japan, you won't get the new 3DS until "2015", so if you had any plans to play Smash before then it's still worth it to have gotten one.

That's what I thought, the placement of nearly every button was kinda weird (shield and grab are totally backwards) but we'll probably be able to change the controls, so nyegh!

If we can't, I guess I'm screwed, my A button is a little bit unresponsive and I really don't trust it for a Smash match.
